Cannabis Transactions transition from Van Nuys Public Counter to Main City Hall Public Counter

Effective December 21, 2020, ALL cannabis IN-PERSON payments (cash, check, money order and credit/debit card) will only be accepted at the City Hall-Main Public Counter located at 200 N Spring St, Room 101, Los Angeles, CA 90012. The entrance to City Hall is on Main Street. AN APPOINTMENT WILL BE REQUIRED FOR ALL TYPES OF PAYMENTS. WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED .

Customers visiting the Van Nuys Public counter will be asked to schedule an appointment and drop off their payment at City Hall.

The following are the instructions to schedule an appointment:

1) For Cash Payments UNDER $1,000, check, money order and credit/debit card payments

a. Email your request to financecsd.noncashappt@lacity.org

b. Include the following information in the body of the email:

     - Legal Name

     - BTRC# or DCR Record Number (if BTRC has not been issued)

     - Estimated or actual payment amount

     - Payment method (check, money order or credit/debit card)

     - Contact name and telephone number

     - Copy of documents such as DCR Permit Renewal Invoice and Finance

       business tax reporting forms, notice of tax due and/or audit assessment

       billing must be attached

2) For CASH PAYMENTS OVER $1,000

a. Email your request to finance.csd.appt@lacity.org

b. Include the following information in the body of the email:

     - Legal Name

     - BTRC# or DCR Record Number (if BTRC has not been issued)

     - Estimated or actual payment amount

     - Contact name and telephone number

     - Copy of documents such as DCR Permit Renewal Invoice and Finance

       business tax reporting forms, notice of tax due and/or audit assessment

       billing must be attached

Send your email request at least one (1) week prior to your desired appointment date.

An appointment confirmation email will be sent to you including rules to be observed when visiting City Hall during your appointment. It is important that you wait for the appointment confirmation prior to your office visit.

Additional Payment Option: Dama Financial

Customers who normally pay in cash are now able to pay their tax and permit obligations via Dama Electronic Payment. 

The City has negotiated with Dama Financial to provide this service to city cannabis businesses with a transaction fee of 2% and a $75 pickup fee which will provide for an armor carrier to securely pick up the cash directly from business locations and deposit those funds for use in payment of local and state tax and permit liabilities.  Dama Financial provides banking services for tax payments without extensive signup process/verification. 

To apply for Dama Financial service:

●       Complete an application online at www.cashtotax.com

●       Fill out business information and upload documents

●       Dama will notify you when your account is open
